Learn to treat yourself with kindness and care

Your relationship with yourself is key

Feeling like you’re low on your list of priorities?

Let’s change that.

“I was apprehensive because my prior therapist was judgy. But there was none of that with Katie, just this ease and calmness about her and a sense of trust that I could say what I wanted to say and she’d help me work through it.

You deserve the perfect mango.

One day, I was home by myself and noticed we had a perfectly ripe mango in the kitchen. Mangoes are a pain to cut up, but my kids love them, so I cut them up often.

Suddenly, I realized that I was allowed to have the mango. Of course I am! I’m worth the effort to cut it up, even if my kids aren’t here to share it.

A million times a day, we have opportunities to care for ourselves with love, even if that wasn’t modeled for us in our relationships. Therapy can help you do that!

What’s it like to work with me?

I treat clients through a relational, trauma-informed, and attachment-based lens. I also weave in CBT, DBT, mindfulness practices, and more. My background is in art therapy, so art-making is an option if clients want to explore it.

We’ll have plenty of modalities and tools at our disposal—let’s develop your sense of self so that you can get on with life and find the joy in it for you.

“I needed to learn how to build self-acceptance and a sense of self that wasn’t dependent on approval from other people. Katie was so good at bringing me back down to earth when I was spiraling. So gentle and humorous, but also with a pragmatic approach.

Katie taught me that I’m allowed to have feelings. I knew that in my head, but to have her say that to me, it was the first time anybody really said you’re allowed to have whatever feelings, it’s OK. It’s embarrassing. But it was a revelation.”

Steps to working together:

1

Contact me via phone or email to set up a time for an initial phone consultation to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, scheduling, and financial considerations.

2

If you decide to move forward, we’ll set up our first appointment time.

3

Before your appointment, I’ll email you some initial paperwork for you to review and complete before the session, which leaves us more time to get to know each other once we’re together for your first session.

Are you a recent graduate looking for supervision support?

Clinical Supervision

Supervision is an important part of the profession. I offer art-based supervision either on an individual or group basis to help emerging professionals seeking licensure (LPC/LCPC) or art therapy credentialing (ATR).

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do you meet with clients?

I suggest that we meet weekly for the first four sessions (weeks) to determine if we are a good fit for working together. After four sessions, we can assess the frequency needed and adjust accordingly. Some individuals like coming to therapy weekly, while others feel that bi-weekly or monthly works better for them. I’m open to the schedule that works best for you.

How long are the sessions?

For adults, the initial session is 90 minutes, and regular sessions are 55 minutes.

For children and adolescents, session times may vary between 45-55 minutes, depending on your child’s needs and comfort.

How long will I be in therapy?

On average, most clients are in therapy for around the length of a school year or nine months. However, every client is different—and some clients stay with me long-term. You don’t have to be in therapy for several presidential terms to get positive outcomes—but you may want to be!

Do you do in-person and virtual sessions?

Yes! I offer both in-person therapy at my office in downtown Oak Park or telehealth sessions (HIPAA-compliant video conferencing).

How much do sessions cost?
  • Phone consultation: FREE. I invite you to call me to discuss your problems, concerns, and possible treatment strategies.
  • Initial session: $150 per 90-minute session
  • Individual therapy rates: $130 per 55-minute session, $115 per 45-minute session
  • Family therapy rates: $140 per 55-minute session
  • Group therapy: $50 per 110-minute session (8-10 week commitment)

If payment is a concern, please call for more information if payment is a concern. I believe you should be able to access the care you need and I offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes—I’m in a network with all the top insurance providers: BCBS PPOs, United, Cigna, and Aetna. Since coverage varies depending on your plan, I encourage you to contact your provider before we get started to find out how much would be covered by them as well as your cost or co-pay.

For other insurance providers, I may be out of network. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Here are some questions that may be helpful if you choose to use your insurance for payment:

  • Does my insurance cover mental health services?
  • What is my deductible, and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my plan cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is a referral required from my primary care physician (PCP) before starting therapy?

If you choose to request reimbursement from your provider for services, I’ll provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your provider.

When is payment due?

Full payment (or your co-pay) is required before each session.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.

How should I decide whether therapy will be worth it?

Consider for a moment what you would be willing to spend to feel happy and peaceful. How much is that worth? Now think about the cost of inaction if you don’t embark on this healing journey. Read some of the testimonials on this website. It’s a totally individual decision about making an investment in your future happiness. I’m happy to discuss it with you!

Let’s start the journey.
